formula overview
$10.00/0.28oz. – $35.71 per ounce
The formula is said to be “easy to blend” and produce a “natural, skin-like finish” that can be layered or applied to bare skin. The brand recommends applying product straight from the tube for heavier coverage, and picking up product with a brush for lighter coverage, although opacity “builds the color just the way you want it”.
They dry to a semi-set finish – slightly dewy, definitely “natural, skin-like” in appearance, but not overly sticky or really wet-looking. I haven’t found them to wander or move much, so the formula still lasts seven to nine hours longer with minimal movement. So far they have applied well and worn well over the foundation. They are not transfer-proof but transfer-resistant; They don’t smudge from accidental touches, but aren’t fully locked.
The pigmentation varied a bit from shade to shade, but most shades were semi-opaque to full-opaque when applied straight from the tube with a swipe motion, although I don’t think it’s quite as easy to replicate this on the cheeks on my arm . I preferred to pick up the product with my fingertip, tap it on the cheekbones and spread it up and out, and then use a clean fingertip to spread it as needed, softening the edges.
I appreciated that even the deeper shades didn’t seem to penetrate my pores and applied and blended out just as easily as very light shades, which are closer to my skin but better (literally my skin!). I’d say the formula is buildable from semi-transparent to medium and semi-opaque coverage is possible, but the formula has enough glide that it starts to show through noticeably, even with heavy application.
The consistency was slightly softening, light and thin with good spreadability and movement; It didn’t lift the base products but still worked well on bare skin. I didn’t feel like it lifted onto foundation over time or left stains, even when I first applied foundation, but I would recommend (just like most cream-based cheek formulas!) using it with it to combine with a less colorless make-up. matte foundation for best results (the dewy finish pairs well with a more skin-like foundation).
Oh, the caps have the product names on them, but the rest of the tube doesn’t. So if more than one is open, make sure you put the correct lid back on!
