Nicola McLean has recalled her experience of lying about her weight to get dangerous weight loss shots online to shed the pounds.
The 41-year-old TV personality – who has battled bulimia since childhood – revealed in a new interview that the controversial “skinny jabs” left her feeling “violently ill” and battling severe headaches.
Although the jabs were originally marketed as a treatment for diabetes, a number of well-known stars have turned to the appetite-suppressing product to help with weight loss – including Nicola.
However, the former glamor model has since spoken out against the jabs, which have made her feel “so sick”, with the star noting that she previously thought they were “the answer to all my prayers”.
It wasn’t until her troubled footballer husband Tom Williams, 42, threw away the jabs that Nicola felt better and realized how bad they were for her.

Tough: The TV personality, 41, who has battled bulimia since childhood, revealed in a new interview that the controversial ‘skinny jabs’ have left her feeling ‘violently ill’ and struggling with severe headaches ( picture 2010).
Speaking to The Sun, she said: “It made me so sick. It is advertised as working wonders. People like me who suffer from bulimia and anorexia will look at this and think, “This is the moment I’ve been waiting for, this is going to change my life”. I thought this was the answer to all my prayers.
However, she was quick to confirm that it was a “big mistake” and that she would not recommend the vaccinations – which she began giving in 20201 – to anyone.
Nicola went on to share how she found the syringes through an ad on Instagram, and after asking, she was directed to an Instagram account that claims to be an online nurse promoting healthy weight loss.
She was then advised to claim she was “two stones heavier” than she really was to receive the 250-pound jabs, as well as provide her height, blood pressure and BMI, with Nicola stating that the jabs “so simple” were preserved.
She said: ‘I lied about my weight, stated my normal height of 5ft 4in, my blood pressure, paid £250 for a month’s worth and within a few days it arrived. It was so simple and easy. I thought it was the quick fix I was always looking for. I told myself it was no big deal. If celebrities would do it, it would be safe for me too.’
The beauty went on to detail that she started taking the vaccine, called Saxenda, on a daily basis and explained how she started to feel “really sick”.
Describing her condition, she said: “I was very sick and Tom said, ‘This is so strange for you’ because I have the strongest stomach you will ever know, having been bulimic for years. Then I started getting headaches but I brushed them away.
She recalled also “wiping down” her husband Tom’s concerns, saying she was “in denial” as her weight loss was “more important” to her at the time – despite being only a size 10 at the time.

Amid her ongoing battles with anorexia, bulimia and body dysmorphia, Nicola opened up about how the vaccinations made her “not want to eat” and that not being “fixated” on food was “really nice” as her appetite had gone .
Despite the jabs that made her vomit each morning, Nicola continued to take them, further “distracting” her inner worries.
Her addition to them didn’t stop until Tom took action and threw them away, with Nicola insisting she was “very grateful” for the moment as it immediately made her feel better.
After her ordeal, the mother-of-two has urged the government to change the law as weight-loss vaccines are more accessible than ever to vulnerable people.
Nicola’s story comes after she hit back at critics after posting a revealing photo and later receiving negative comments and messages regarding her “very oversized implants”.
The former glamor model took to her Instagram Stories in January to address the “reaction” she received to a photo she shared the night before.
The photo shows the former I’m A Celebrity star in a skimpy black crop top and ripped blue jeans for dinner.

Nicola looked at the camera and stared at it sultryly while holding a piece of sushi to one of her bright blue eyes.
But in a post to her 259,000 followers, she wrote: “Whenever I wear clothes that show my very large implants it provokes such a reaction.
“Listen, it hasn’t escaped my notice that they’re huge and not to everyone’s taste…actually I get it when girls ask me about them I’m not saying do it, they’re hard work!”
“But I don’t understand that people in my DMs are angry and comment on my pictures (mostly women) come on girls let’s stick together.”
Nicola’s caption was accompanied by a troll who wrote: “MORE PLASTIC THAN MY UPVC WINDOWS”.
